ELIZABETH TAYLOR (1934-2011)- A TRIBUTE TO
April 17th, 2001
about 25 hours
Graphites and pencils
29,7 x 42 cm
I've wanted since a long time to make a portrait of Liz, one of my all time favourite actresses.
I find that this ocassion was really perfect to make a tribute for her after her death at the age of 79.
Her body left us but her soul will live forever on all her brilliant career as a great actress. She amazed us with awsome performances on films that are an important part of Human History and Universal Art History... we can always remember her with Paul Newman in "The Cat On A Hot Tin Roof", with Katharine Hepburn and Montgomery Clifft in "Suddenly Last Summer"... and on her best films as "Who's Afraid About Virginia Woolf" (she wins her second Academy Award for her role (the firsf was for her role on "Butterfield 8") or the unforgettable CLEOPATRA.
I did her portrait as the Egyptian Queen Cleopatra, one of her best films, despite she didn't won the Academy Award. She looks so really beautiful on this film, and i think that nobody before and after will performing better than her this role...
I really hope you like it!
